The Florida Association of Public Information Officers (FAPIO) provides training through the development and coordination of a wide range of opportunities. The PIO program offers a 3-day FEMA L0105 Public Information Officer (PIO) Basics course, 2-day Advanced PIO Skills Workshop and the one-day largest statewide PIO event known as the Florida PIO Symposium. 
To equip participants with the skills needed to be full or part-time PIOs, including oral and written communications; understanding and working with the media; and basic tools and techniques to perform effectively as a PIO, both in the proactive/ advocacy times and crisis/ emergency response. |
