A Central Resource for PIO Training and Professional Development
The PIO Calendar is a free, community-supported resource created to help Public Information Officers and public sector communicators find training opportunities, conferences, webinars, and key professional dates in one centralized location.
PIOs operate in fast-moving, high-stakes environments. Finding relevant training should not require digging through dozens of websites, mailing lists, and social media posts. The PIO Calendar exists to reduce that friction and make professional development easier to plan, track, and access.
This calendar has been incredibly helpful in finding opportunities to expand my communications toolkit! Thank you for sharing all these wonderful resources.

This is an excellent resource. My colleague on Maui has already found some good training opportunities for later this year. Much appreciated.

Your PIO Calendar is truly a gift to all PIOs – thank you for all your time and effort to build it. I attended an event I found on it last week, for free. It was great.

What the PIO Calendar Is
The PIO Calendar is designed to function as a reference tool, not a marketplace.
It provides:
- A centralized calendar of PIO-related training, conferences, and professional development opportunities
- Listings from federal, state, local, academic, nonprofit, and professional organizations
- Both in-person and virtual opportunities
- Filters to help users quickly find relevant events by topic, format, cost, or provider type
- A curated list of key PIO and communications planning dates to support proactive messaging and recognition efforts
The focus is on clarity, accessibility, and usefulness for working communicators
How Events Are Added
Events and trainings may be submitted by:
- Government agencies
- Professional associations
- Universities and academic institutions
- Nonprofit organizations
- Training providers offering PIO-relevant content
All submissions are reviewed prior to publication to ensure they are relevant, professional, and appropriate for a PIO audience. Submissions may be edited for clarity or declined if they do not align with the purpose of the calendar.
Inclusion on The PIO Calendar does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or verification.
The PIO Calendar lists events and trainings submitted by third parties or found on open source websites. The calendar does not control registration, pricing, content delivery, or event outcomes. Users are encouraged to review event details carefully and contact organizers directly with questions. Event dates and time are all subject to change by the event organizer.

Meet the founder:
Paul D. Raymond, Jr.
The PIO Calendar was created by Paul D. Raymond, Jr., a strategic communications leader with a background in public safety and government leadership.
Having worked in high-consequence environments and taught PIO courses nationwide, he understands the challenge of finding relevant, timely training. The PIO Calendar was built to simplify that process and better support the profession.
