PIO Training Monthly Roundup | October 2026

The October 2026 PIO Calendar roundup arrives with exciting news: yesterday, I launched The PIO Calendar Bookshelf, a new resource created to help public information officers and communicators discover practical books on crisis communication, public information, leadership, trust, and related topics.

I’m especially grateful to the four authors whose books helped launch the Bookshelf: Melissa Agnes, author of Crisis Ready; Jason Pack, author of The Crisis Code; Dan Stoneking, author of Crisis Communications and Emergency Management; and Allison B. Hudson, author of The Public Trust. Thank you for supporting this new resource and helping us get it started.

The response has already been encouraging. Since the launch, five more books have been added, with more in the pipeline. Thank you to the authors, publishers, and community members who have submitted or recommended titles. If you know of a book that belongs on the Bookshelf, please send it our way. And if you’ve read one of the featured books, I encourage you to add a review and share your perspective with other members of the PIO community.

September was also another record-breaking month for The PIO Calendar. The site received 7,607 views—a significant increase over our previous monthly record of 5,352. Thank you to everyone who visited, shared an event, recommended a resource, or told a colleague about the site. Every visit and contribution helps this community-supported resource continue to grow.

Please keep visiting, and let us know how we can make The PIO Calendar even more useful. There is much more in the works. The PIO Jobs Network is getting close to launch, and we are continuing to build additional features designed to help public information officers and communicators find opportunities, resources, and professional connections.
