Legal Group: Communications in an age of conflict and controversy

A PRCA breakfast panel | Wednesday 8 July | Kingsley Napley, London | 08:30
Communications professionals are increasingly expected to advise on issues that are complex, divisive and fast-moving, from geopolitical conflict and social crises to situations where there is no clear consensus and no easy answer.
For in-house teams and law firm communicators, the stakes are high. Stakeholders, employees and clients expect leadership and clarity, yet the reputational risks of responding or of staying silent can be equally significant. These are the situations where experience, judgement and a clear framework matter most.
This breakfast panel, hosted by the PRCA, Kingsley Napley and Byfield Consultancy, brings together senior communications leaders to share insight and practical guidance on advising organisations through their most challenging communications decisions. Discussion will cover how firms and in-house teams are approaching geopolitical and social issues, how to build the internal frameworks to respond with confidence, and how to weigh the risks of engagement against the risks of silence.
The panel will also explore the media perspective, how editors and journalists cover contested and sensitive topics, what they look for from organisations navigating difficult issues, and how communications teams can engage with the press effectively in high-stakes situations.
