The PIO Calendar continues to grow as a resource for public information officers and communicators.
Today’s update introduces a new feature designed to make it easier to see where training is happening across the country.
U.S. Training Heatmap
A new U.S. heatmap provides a visual view of where public information and communications training is currently taking place.
The map reflects real-time data from the calendar and allows users to quickly identify:
- Where training opportunities are concentrated
- Which areas have limited or no upcoming classes
- How training is distributed across the country
This feature is designed to give a clearer picture of the training landscape and help users better understand where opportunities exist.

Why We Built This
The PIO Calendar was created to help public information officers find training opportunities.
As the platform continues to evolve, the goal is to make it easier not just to find training, but to understand the broader landscape of where and how training is happening.
A visual view of training activity helps:
- Identify gaps in coverage
- Highlight areas with strong training availability
- Support better planning and access across the profession
What’s Next
Additional features are already in development to expand how users explore and interact with training data.
This includes enhancements to filtering, geographic exploration, and new tools to better connect training opportunities with the needs of the profession.
More updates are coming soon.
Help Improve the Calendar
If you are hosting training and not currently listed, consider submitting your event.
If you see gaps in your region, sharing opportunities helps strengthen access for others.
